I can remember playing Squash and other basic "Ping Pong-Like" games and feeling like I was at the top of the world and could stay entertained for hours.
The Playstation 2 is simply one of the best gaming devices that has ever been developed. My personal opinion is that you're getting a fantastic bang for your buck when you make your first Playstation 2 purchase.
You'll find an extremely vast amount of interesting and valuable games that are available for this great console. It's not made of steel, however I've found it to withstand the durability test by falling down over 20 times and even being chewed on by a small puppy!
I hope that this review was helpful in at least one way. I've not covered all of the many, many details that are available on this site and others. What I've tried to do is pass on my own personal opinion to other interested consumers. I've on a very small budget but purchasing a Playstation 2 console made total sense to me. Instead of running to the movies all the time-you'll find yourself and your kids totally entertained for hours and even days at a time. The memory in this unit allows you to take a break-so you can actually sleep and not worry that your High Score will not be lost.
Thanks again for taking the time to read my concise review on this incredible entertainment box! I can't tell you how many laughs I've had competing with family and friends at numerous great games. 1 stars (bad hardware = hard feelings) - My Ps2 would not read blue disks after about 3 months of use.
Later on I discovered that everybody has had problems with the
older Ps2 and even if I could get it fixed it would only break
again in a short time. I have heard about lawsuits and have
emailed to Sony to no avail.
I am a hardcore Sony Playstation person with a considerable investment in the consoles and games. Sony has lost a customer
and will have to earn my loyalty back. Never again.
1 stars (ps2= bad hardware, average games...) - the ps2 has been a total letdown from the ps1 in all aspects. the hardware has been so horribly and shoddily thrown together....i sent mine in for service because it wouldn't read blue discs (this is a well-known issue that sony will 'fix' for free to avoid a class-action lawsuit). then it came back supposedly 'fixed' and ready to go. which meant it decided to bore circular ruts in my games and dvds. i had to trade it in for a new one at a store for a loss of $70. i wish i had been given the foresight to buy an xbox instead, which not only is way more powerful but also had significantly better exclusive games (halo, knights of the old republic, ninja gaiden, jade empire, etc.). the ps2 has been a total bust. sony's stock and good name have been irreparably damaged. the psp is rightly getting smoked by the much superior nintendo. s.o.e. totally and absolutely sucks. the ps3 is getting pre-empted by the wonder-console xbox 360, and halo3 is due to pop up approximately when the ps3 launches. RIP sony....sony= the new sega
