5 stars (Madden Excels Yet Again) - Madden has improved upon its already top-ranked video football game product in a multitude of ways to ease gameplay and improve the playing experience. The new passing cone, while tricky to master, provides a new level of strategy for experts and novices alike. I heartily reccomend this excellent time spending game and can only hope that others derive as much enjoyment from this game as I do. 4 stars (Madden just got a lot better) - Wow, I am deeply impressed with the new QB vision mode. It makes it so your QB cant roll 10 yards back and just heave a cannon to the end of the field when your on your 40. You have to lock on your vision control onto the player and then you can throw an accurate pass. The only bad thing about it is that you get rushed too soon. I think they should have the defense come in a second later because of this new change cause it takes time to look off the defenders.
Another new addition is the NFL Superstar mode where you can take the life of an NFL QB, take an IQ test to decide where you will be drafted, answer interviews and play cameos in movies. Beyond this its basically just like playing a season. They didnt put very much time into that new aspect.
Other than this it is just another episode of the Madden series. Which is good because i'm hooked on it. Good to see Madden improved upon the dreadful 2005 game. Go out and buy it but you might want to rent it first because not everyone likes it 4 stars (comparsion to other games) - Madden 2006 is by far the best football game yet to be released. The new features blow the old versions out of the water. The game is now more realistic and fun with the addition of QB passer vision, and the NFL superstar mode. The ability of being able to sprint with the QB behind the line of scrimmage now is now a feature making the game run more smoothly as well. The addition of QB passer vision, which is the line of sight the QB can see, was a great idea since it adds more dimension to the game. Instead of just being able to throw the ball to any receiver with little to no consequence, the QB passer vision decreases the accuracy of the throw if outside of its vision. With this, the is game more life like since it takes more then just luck to throw it to a receiver since you need to see him in your vision first. The addition of the NFL superstar mode has made the game much better than it has been in previous years. In most other football video games, creating a character was easy since you can make him as good as you want with different attributes. In this new mode, however, you do not change his attributes but rather his appearance. Once the appearance is chosen it can not be changed. The player then sits down with Terrell Davis, and signs an agent to help him get better known. Once all this is done the NFL draft comes and goes in order to this past years draft until the player created is drafted. With this new addition, the game is more interesting since a character can be made with no control over anything. Being able to sprint behind the line of scrimmage makes the game more realistic since no QB has to wait three seconds to begin to sprint when there is not that much time especially if it is a play action, which is a fake handoff turned into a passing play. If the QB has to wait the three seconds, for any reason, he most likely will be sacked. The additions of these features make the game more challenging and will keep selling the series since the game continues to change with each passing year. The changes are what make the game worth buying. |
