Microvision SureThing CD Labeler Deluxe 4.5 review:1 stars (beware Canon users) - I used to love this program but not anymore. I was advised by Surething to purchase the upgrade from version 3 to 4 and this would enable me to use it with a Canon i865 printer for direct CD printing. When I took the plunge I ended up having to download an update from special programmer who had done some sort of template. The template does not work very well and you still have to set it up to a degree. For some reason Surething wont support Canon printers. They have lots of template's for Epsons but no Canons. This of course is only a problem if you want to print direct to CD so if your printing onto paper labels there is no problem doing it that way.2 stars (Surething Labeler V4.3 fails to live up to the hype) - As a novice I found this software difficult to use, probably because the manual is badly written and fails to explain how you use the tools available to create designs. It may be this is a sophisticated and complex program, but I have spent hours struggling to create the most basic of designs for Jewel Case inserts and CD labels. Perhaps all CD labelling software by its very nature is complex and requires hours of research before it can be used: I don't know. Perhaps I'm a very stupid person and this is the best CD labelling software on the planet. But after 3 weeks of research I am still unable to complete one jewel case design. If you are a novice my advice is make sure there is not an easier program available. My other gripes include:
1) Surething cannot export playlists from Musicmatch Jukebox 10, contrary to the misleading advertisments which say it can; 2) Technical support, although responding quickly, are unable to answer some basic questions. For example, how does one create a design on the BACK of the front jewel case panel? A simple enough question covering a basic aspect of design. I can only assume those at technical support have never used the software. I'm unable to continue with my designs and am stuck. 3) Only one place in England apparantly sells it, (The thompson Partnership), but they have none in stock. 5 stars (A Great Graphics Labeler For Many Needs) - At the time this review was written, a product description was not provided above. If this is still the case I would suggest you go to the Version 4.0 of this product listed on Amazon. You will also find customer reviews, lacking here at this time. The latest Version of this Product, is Version 4.3. Maybe the number was rounded.
Some items included with this package worth noting are: Label applicators for 5 Â# Discs for both full and standard hub labels. In terms of ease of use for centering or placing the label correctly I would give Sure Things product a better rating than the Stomper or Fellows applicator I have used. It also comes with an applicator not listed on the box for something I am not familiar with.
In addition samples of the label stocks for the CD/DVD needs you might have are also provided. This might suggest they are more interested in selling labels than software. After using and seeing the output this software provides with the ease of use you might see why.
If you are looking for a product providing intuitive menus leading to great graphics and labeling, this is one from my limited experience I would highly recommend. |
